This request relates to employee physiotherapy services (including Occupational Health Physiotherapy) provided by the council to its staff.



1. Service Delivery Model

a. Does the Council currently deliver employee physiotherapy services (including Occupational Health Physiotherapy) in-house or through an externally commissioned provider?



2. Current Provider Details:

a. If the service is externally commissioned, please provide the name of the current provider and the duration of their contract (including start and end dates, and any extension options).



3. Referral and Triage Process:

a. How are employee referrals for physiotherapy triaged (e.g. direct line manager referral, occupational health, online form)?

b. Is triage completed internally or outsourced to the provider?

c. How many referrals in the last 12 months or last full year of MI?



4. Digital Systems / Case Management Tools:

a. Does the Council use any digital system or online portal for managing referrals, appointments, or management reporting (e.g. an online referral portal, HR case management system, or occupational health platform)?

b. If so, please specify the name of the system and whether it is operated by the provider or the Council.



5. Session Delivery:

What proportion of physiotherapy sessions are delivered:



a. In person

6. Average Sessions Per Case:

a. On average, how many physiotherapy sessions are provided per employee (including assessment and follow-up appointments)?



7. Self-Managed vs Assisted Treatment Plans:

a. What proportion of cases result in self-managed treatment plans (e.g. exercise videos or online programmes) compared to assisted treatment (hands-on therapy)?



8. Performance and Reporting:

a. What Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) or management information are routinely collected to monitor physiotherapy service performance?

(e.g. referral turnaround times, attendance rates, discharge outcomes, employee satisfaction, etc.)



9. Price and Costing:

a. What is the current annual budget for occupational physiotherapy services and/or the average cost per physiotherapy session (including triage, assessment, and treatment)?



10. Optional / Educational Services:

a. Does the Council offer any additional musculoskeletal education, wellbeing sessions, or webinars (e.g. back care, posture, or early intervention workshops)?

If yes, are these delivered internally or by the provider?



11. Contractual and Procurement Details:

a. When is the current contract due to expire or be retendered?

b. If available, please provide the procurement reference number or link to the most recent tender notice.

I can confirm that the information requested is held by Lincolnshire County Council. I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.

8a. Timescales for Physiotherapy

An appointment will be booked within 3 working days of receipt of referral

An initial assessment will take place within 5 working days of the receipt of referral.

An initial report will be sent to the referring manager within 5 working days of the initial assessment taking place.

A final report will be sent to the referring manager within 5 working days of the final treatment.

Completion of treatment within 8 weeks of referral (this may vary depending on the clinician’s judgement about the time required between appointments)



9. No budget as a call off arrangement

Musculoskeletal Telephone Assessment = £111.71 (including VAT)

Physio (in person) £64.84 (Including VAT)

10. We have extensive Manual Handling and DSE intranet pages that contain lots of information/guidance related to things like correct posture, methods for safer lifting and handling, body mechanic’s etc and these are supported with on line courses (Manual Handling and DSE e-learning courses) all of which are designed to reduce the risk of employees suffering from MSK injuries.
