Expenditure on dedicated Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)

This is a request for recorded information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding the Council's expenditure on dedicated Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) roles and associated activities.

I request the following information, to be broken down by financial year for the period May 1 2025, to the present date (October 29, 2025):

1. Dedicated EDI Staff Expenditure

Please provide the total expenditure on salary and on-costs (including National Insurance and employer pension contributions) and the Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) count for all roles where the primary function (defined as 70% or more of the role's remit) is related to EDI.

Role Examples: Diversity Officer, Inclusion Manager, Head of Equalities, Equality and Inclusion Specialist, or equivalent.

2. EDI Activity Expenditure
Please provide the total spend on the following non-staffing categories:
 
a. External EDI Training Costs: Total cost paid to external providers for EDI, unconscious bias, or related training.

b. External EDI Consultancy/Advice: Total cost paid to external consultants for EDI strategy or advice.

c. Membership Fees: Total cost of memberships to equality charters or diversity networks (e.g., Stonewall).


 

Decision

There are no roles that are in line with the information requested regarding dedicated EDI staff expenditure during the time period of 1 May - 29 October 2025

a. External EDI Training Costs: £2,628.56 was spent on access to a number of e-learning courses which are made available to staff through our internal e-learning platform.

This platform includes – but is not limited to – some EDI, unconscious bias, or related training courses. These courses are all non-mandatory.

b. External EDI Consultancy/Advice: Total cost paid to external consultants for EDI strategy or advice: No expenditure

c. Membership Fees: Total cost of memberships to equality charters or diversity networks (e.g., Stonewall): No expenditure
