In-year admissions for Year 8 for secondary schools serving pupils in the Lincoln area

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act regarding in-year admissions for Year 8 for secondary schools serving pupils in the Lincoln area.

Specifically, for each academic year from 2021-22 to 2024-25, I would like, for each school listed below:

1. The total number of in-year applications received for Year 8.

2. The total number of successful admissions (places offered and accepted).

3. The reason/grounds for each successful outcome (or aggregated by category), for example:

• Vacancy due to relocation of another pupil 
• Sibling priority 
• Medical or safeguarding need 
• Looked-after or previously looked-after child 
• Other criteria under the school's admissions policy

4. The total number of unsuccessful applications, and if recorded, the reasons.

5. The number of students placed on waiting lists, the average/maximum waiting list length, and how many were later admitted.

6. The number of Year 8 in-year admission appeals lodged and how many were successful.

7. The Published Admission Number (PAN) and actual roll numbers for Year 8 in each year.

8. Copies or links to the in-year admissions policy for each school for the relevant years

**Schools in scope:**

• Lincoln Christ's Hospital School 
• The Priory Academy LSST 
• Branston Community Academy 
• William Farr School 
• St Peter and St Paul Catholic Academy 
• The Priory Pembroke Academy 

1 and 2. We are unable to provide the data for applications that go directly to the school, as they bypass Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) therefore we do not hold a record of whether an application has been made, schools are not obliged to tell us that an application has been made. However, we have provided the applications and offers that were made via the Local Authority (LA).

PAN figure is the PAN for the school's main intake year i.e. Year 7.

Y8 NOR figure is the Year 8 number on roll based on the January school census for the academic year.

3. For mid-year admissions, the criteria does not apply, as allocation depends solely on availability. If the school has a vacancy, the place can be offered. Where a waiting list exists, the place will be allocated to the child at the top of their reserve list. If there is no waiting list, the place may be offered to any applicant. Oversubscription criteria are relevant only for main intake applications and do not apply to mid-year admissions.

An application is 'discarded' if a school that was named as a higher preference on the application form was able to offer a place.                                                                          

The number on roll for year 8 is a snapshot of that week, the applications listed within this data were made across the whole academic year.                                                                              

5. The information relating to waiting lists can be obtained by contacting the schools directly, as this is where the information is held. The LA do not manage waiting lists for year 8.

6. You would need to contact the schools directly for this information as Lincolnshire County Council do not hold it.

7. PAN is only relevant for a year of entry (in the case of Secondary then this would be year 7). As the numbers on roll can change throughout the year, we have taken a snapshot of the number on roll from January census.
