Maintained schools in the LA

I am making a Freedom of Information Request under the FOI Act 2000. Could you please provide me with the following information about maintained schools in your LA:

1) The total number of staff you have or are planning to make redundant in the 2025-2026 academic year. A breakdown of the redundancies by staff category, including but not limited to:

a) Teachers (Primary)

b) Teachers (Secondary)

c) Teaching Assistants

d) Headteachers/Principals

e) Senior Leadership Team members

f) Support Staff (e.g., administrative, catering, premises)

2) The total number of staff made redundant in each of the following academic years across LA schools: a) 2021-2022 b) 2022-2023 c) 2023-2024 d) 2024-2025

3) A breakdown of the redundancies by staff category for the same years, including but not limited to:

a) Teachers (Primary)

b) Teachers (Secondary)

c) Teaching Assistants

d) Headteachers/Principals

e) Senior Leadership Team members

f) Support Staff (e.g., administrative, catering, premises)

4) A breakdown of the reduction in the number of staff employed in these roles:

a) Teachers (Primary)

b) Teachers (Secondary)

c) Teaching Assistants

d) Headteachers/Principals

e) Senior Leadership Team members

f) Support Staff (e.g. administrative, catering, premises)

If providing the exact figures for each staff category would risk identifying individuals, please provide the data in an anonymised or aggregated format (e.g., a range, or a total for combined categories), while still providing as much detail as possible.

These figures are based on those schools that buy into the County council’s payroll arrangements and therefore use the Business World (BW) system for payroll purposes.

Prior to April 2023 the figures would not be accurate due to the change in BW systems at that point in time.

 * Figures for this academic year so far.  Individual schools are responsible for their own workforce planning and as such the local authority is not in a position to accurately forecast redundancies in schools to the end of this academic year.
