2. Please provide the number of potholes the council repaired in each of the years mentioned in question 1.

3. Please provide the total amount of compensation paid out by the council for pothole-related vehicle damage in each of the years mentioned in question 1.

4. Please provide the number of claims submitted to the council relating to vehicle damage caused by potholes in each of the years mentioned in question 1.

Please note: The number of enquiries detailed above may include instances of duplicate reporting.

The number of pothole jobs completed above relates specifically to pothole jobs raised. However, this does not include additional potholes that may have been repaired through other works carried out by LCC on the carriageways during each year, such as whole carriageway resurfacing, carriageway patching and other carriageway minor works.

3. The total amount of compensation paid out by the council to date for pothole/carriageway-related vehicle damage reported to the council in each of the calendar years requested is: 

2022 - £65,234.37

2023 - £75,835.02

2024 - £58,316.87

2025 - £40,221.38

4. The number of claims submitted to the council relating to vehicle damage caused by potholes/carriageway defects reported to the council in each of the years requested is:

2022 - 1,330 claims submitted (853 rejected, 477 accepted)

2023 - 1,770 claims submitted (1,383 rejected, 386 accepted)

2024 - 1,563 claims submitted (1,241 rejected, 307 accepted)

2025 - 843 claims submitted (499 rejected, 51 accepted)

*It should be noted that in the years 2023-2025 some claims remain in progress, this will account for the difference in total submitted and those accepted or rejected.
