1) For each period, the total number of children and young people for whom the local authority arranged EOTAS provision.

2) For each period, the total gross expenditure incurred by the local authority on EOTAS provision. For the avoidance of doubt, this should include all payments made by the local authority in relation to EOTAS, including but not limited to tuition, therapy,

alternative provision, online education, and any associated educational support costs.

 Prior to the 2025/2026 financial year, education otherwise than at school (EOTAS) cases were not recorded as a separate cohort, so data for earlier years is not available.

The number of students reflects the current number of active EOTAS packages. This figure fluctuates throughout the year as the circumstances of children and young people change.

Financial costs are approximate, as some elements of an EOTAS package may be funded from different budget codes, and actual expenditure also depends on when providers submit invoices.
