Committee structure.

On 23rd May 2025 the County Council changed their committee structure. The agenda for the meeting stated "amalgamating the responsibilities of 'Environment and Economy Scrutiny Committee' and 'Flood and Water Management Scrutiny Committee' to create 'Growth Scrutiny Committee' and 'Environment Scrutiny Committee' respectively.

(1) What is the annual cost of the previous structure (Flood committee and Environment) compared to the new structure (Environment and Growth committees)?

(2) How many meetings did the old structure involve compared to the new structure?

(3) Please also state the annual cost to the council of each committee both pre and post the changes taking place.

Decision

1) An exact cost of these meetings to Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) is not able to be provided without parameters of the particular costs that you wish to be included in a calculation, and the exact Committees, Sub-Committee or Working Groups you wish to examine, as some of the data is held and some of it will not be. The cost of the operation of one committee meeting is arguably comparable to the cost of other committee meetings in most scenarios.

2) Between December 2022 and May 2025 there were 9 meetings of the Flood and Water Management Scrutiny Committee. The Environment Committee was not in existence until May 2025, LCC can therefore assume your question is related to the Environment and Economy Committee - which met 18 times during this timeframe before it was disestablished in May 2025.
