Can you please inform me what the council's intention are regarding these:
I wrote to you in September regarding the siting of the England flags on Council owned property such as lamp posts etc.
(1) Will they be left in place to further decay?
(2) Will the council be asking the 'community' to remove them and, if so, I presume the council will be ensuring all Health and Safety precautions and measures are in place for the individuals undertaking this. Ie Elevated platforms, road closures etc.
(3) Will the council be removing them? If so, at what cost and who will be paying for this? Will it come out of council budget and, therefore, funded from Council Tax? - Decision

1) The Highway Service is not proactively removing flags from highway assets, including street lighting columns, unless they pose a safety concern. We recognise that overtime the flags will deteriorate by either tearing or decaying and when this does occur we will look to remove them as part of our standard street lighting maintenance program.
2) The Council is not asking the community to remove them
3) As detailed in response (1), the removal of any flags will only be done if they are torn or have decayed and will be completed as part of our standard street lighting maintenance programme.
