Referrals of UASC determined to be adults by the home office

1) In the calendar year of 2025 (January to December), how many individuals claiming to be children (aged under 18) were referred to your children's services department having previously been assessed to be an adult by the Home Office and placed in adult asylum accommodation or detention?

2) Of those referred, how many were subsequently accepted as, or assessed to be, under 18 by your children's services department?

1) During the calendar year of 2025, 19 young people were referred to Lincolnshire County Council Children's Services, having been placed in Adults only accommodation in Lincolnshire by the Home Office/ Border Force, based on a judgement that the young people were aged over 21 years of age.

We are unable to confirm if the Home Office/ Border Force carried out a formal assessment of the individuals.

2) All 19 were age-assessed, with 17 assessed as being under 18 years of age and 2 assessed as being under 16 years of age.
