(1) The number of school crossing patrols provided by Lincolnshire County Council in the following financial

years: 2021/22, 2022/23, 2023/24, 2024/25, 2025/26.



(2) How much money Lincolnshire County Council has spent on school crossing patrols in the following financial

years: 2021/22, 2022/23, 2023/24, 2024/25, 2025/26.



(3) Whether Lincolnshire County Council plans to make any changes to school crossing patrol provision in the next twelve calendar months. 



(4) Please consider any form of service that supports children to cross roads on their journey to school to fall under scope.

Decision

I can confirm that the information requested is held by Lincolnshire County Council. I have detailed below the information that is being released to you. 

 

 (1) The school crossing patrol headcounts are:

2021 - 31 (57 at the start of the year)

2022 - 29

2023 - 51

2024 - 47

2025 - 50

2026 - 49 (4/3/26)

All figures are at 31st March each year except for 2026. It should be noted that the headcount may have changed at different points within each year as vacancies are filled or patrol officers leave the service.

 

(2) Staff costs of school crossing patrol officers; does not include other expenses associated with the service, such as supervision, management, training, equipment etc.

2022/2023, £111,025 (This was the budget allocated based on the numbers employed at the start of the financial year, no data held for the final figure)

(3) There are vacant positions that we are recruiting to where possible. In addition, we receive request for new patrols and these are assessed before a decision is made. No fundamental changes to the provision is currently planned though.
