Local authority enforcement and prosecution activity relating to school attendance within Lincolnshire.

I would be grateful if you could provide the information detailed below, limited to secondary schools within Lincolnshire.



1. Attendance Prosecutions - Overview

For the most recent three academic years (or the most recent period for which data is available), please provide the following, separated into two distinct categories:



1) Term-Time Holiday Absence

1a. The number of penalty notices or prosecution cases received by the local authority from Lincolnshire secondary schools

1b. The number of cases that progressed to prosecution hearings

1c. The number of cases that resulted in a successful prosecution



2) Persistent Absence / Non‑Attendance (excluding term-time holidays)

2025-2026 YTD 20 prosecutions, 3114 penalty notices, 272 Single Justice Process Prosecutions (SJPs) (for unpaid holiday penalty notices)

2024-2025 5693 penalty notices and 246 SJPs (for unpaid holiday penalty notices)

2023-2024 5315 penalty notices and 310 SJPs (for unpaid holiday penalty notices)


1b. The number of cases that progressed to prosecution hearings:

2025-2026 YTD, 61 SJP

2024-2025, 212 SJP

2023-2024, 294 SJP


1c. The number of cases that resulted in a successful prosecution:
