The North Hykeham relief road

Request

Are Lincolnshire county council still planning on the creation of a bat tunnel as part of the North Hykeham relief road?

If so, what is the cost of this?

Decision

As part of delivering the North Hykeham Relief Road, the Council is required, through its planning permission, to mitigate the project’s impact on the ecology and environment.

This includes measures to provide unimpeded crossing points for bats, both over and under the bypass.

These interventions remain a requirement for the scheme and will be delivered as part of the overall project. The Council has not separately itemised the cost of constructing the drainage culvert near Somerton Gate Lane, which also serves as a route for bats to pass safely beneath the road.

Due to the integrated and complex nature of the scheme’s cost structure, the specific cost for the tunnel is information not held by the Council.
