The total number of full-time equivalent (FTE) staff employed in your trading standards service as of 1 April 2026, and the equivalent figures for 1 April 2015 and 1 April 2010.

3) Administrative or support staff without frontline enforcement responsibilities?

4) Has your council received, or been formally allocated, any share of the UK Government's announced £10 million per year investment in trading standards linked to the High Streets task force and the Tobacco and Vapes Act 2026?

4a) If yes, please state:

The amount received or allocated;

The number of new posts it will fund;

Whether any of those posts are apprenticeships.

5) Does your council currently have sufficient qualified supervisors in your trading standards service to supervise and sign off the work of new apprentice officers?

6) How many retail premises in your council area do you estimate will fall within scope of the retail licensing scheme introduced by the Tobacco and Vapes Act 2026, requiring registration or inspection by your trading standards service?

Decision

27 FTE as of 01/04/2026.  Equivalent figures for 2015 and 2010 not available

1) 17 FTE

2) 10 FTE

3) 5 FTE

4a) No funding allocated

5)Yes

6) This is difficult to estimate accurately as we do not hold a definitive record of the products sold by every retail premises within the county, nor do we always have timely information on premises opening or closing.

Based on our current intelligence and knowledge of the local retail landscape, we estimate that between 1,800 and 2,400 premises in Lincolnshire currently sell tobacco and/or vape products and may therefore fall within scope of the licensing scheme.  However, the actual number requiring registration will depend on the final regulations, eligibility criteria, and the extent to which businesses choose to register or carry on selling.

7) No estimate produced
