The Service Pupil Premium (SPP)

I am writing to request information from Lincolnshire County Council, specifically within Children's Services / Education & Inclusion, regarding the use and oversight of the Service Pupil Premium (SPP), also known as the military child grant, at Cranwell Primary School.

1. Funding Allocation - The amount of SPP funding allocated to Cranwell Primary School for each of the last three academic years and a full financial breakdown including invoices for extra-curricular activity the school has deemed necessary to spend the SPP funding on.

2. Council Oversight and Monitoring - Details of OFSTED Reports and their findings, monitoring, review, or oversight undertaken by the Council relating to Cranwell Primary School's use of Service Pupil Premium funding.

This may include audits, reviews, or requirements placed on the school.

3. Engagement with Cranwell Primary School - Copies or summaries of any correspondence, advice, guidance, or support provided by the Council to Cranwell Primary School regarding its use of the Service Pupil Premium.

4. Use of Funding (Council-Held Information) - Any information held by the Council on how Cranwell Primary School has allocated or spent its Service Pupil Premium funding.

4a. If there are no records are held by the council, a breakdown of how individual SPP per child is utilised to aid the benefit of each military child (Not to be confused with the allocation of PP.) On Cranwell Primary Schools website it states that £60,970 is available to the school through SPP, how is this spent complete with financial breakdown.

5. Impact and Outcomes -
Any reports, evaluations, or assessments held by the Council that relate specifically to the impact of SPP funding at Cranwell Primary School (e.g. attainment, wellbeing, transition support).

6. Concerns or Interventions - Details of any concerns identified by the Council regarding the use, effectiveness, or management of Service Pupil Premium funding at Cranwell Primary School, including any actions taken.

7. Comparisons - How does Cranwell Primary School compare to other schools and how they allocate the spending of the SPP?

1: Service Pupil Premium is allocated on financial year bases rather than academic year basis, the financial allocations were:

2025/26 £68,600

Cranwell is a maintained school but operates its own bank account and financial software therefore the Local Authority does not have a detailed breakdown of expenditure for this grant.

For each of the financial years expenditure was charged against teaching any further information will need to be requested from the school directly.

3: Schools have delegated budgets therefore it is their responsibility to determine how funding is spent within the terms of conditions of any grant. The Local Authority receives schools allocations for Service Pupil Premium which it passports onto the relevant school, when this allocation is made a news article is included in the monthly bulletin which includes a link to the grant from the Department for Educations website, a copy of the relevant page of the bulletin as an example has been included in this FOI response.
