Lincolnshire Climate Summit
In October 2021, the county council hosted the first-ever Lincolnshire Climate Summit, welcoming over 200 people and 30 exhibitors to the Epic Centre.
The Summit featured a critical look at the county council’s Green Masterplan and 2050 net-zero target and the future challenges the county will face.
Attendees heard a series of talks and panel discussions from local environmental leaders covering various climate-centric topics, such as EV charging, renewables, and nature-based solutions.
Street Lighting
In 2018, Lincolnshire County Council started a six-year programme to replace over 25,000 old streetlights with LED lights.
LED lights are hugely more efficient as not only does it reduce carbon emissions but also gives a better quality of light, requires less servicing and has a much longer life span.
It is expected that this project will save taxpayers over £407,000 and 1,057 tonnes of carbon.
As part of our carbon management plan, we will undertake a programme of phased replacement of the remaining 10% if streetlighting assets requiring conversion to LED.
Electricity consumption for streetlight has fallen by over 10 million kilowatt-hours from 19,731,361 kilowatt-hours in 2016/2017, to 9,031,911 kilowatt-hours in 2025/2026.
