Property Flood Resilience (PFR)
If your home has been affected by flooding, you may be eligible for support through a Property Flood Resilience (PFR) grant. These grants help households install measures that reduce future flood damage.
What is PFR?
Property Flood Resilience (PFR) includes practical changes to your home to help reduce the impact of future flooding. This can include flood doors, air brick covers, sump pumps and non-return valves.
Things to consider before installing PFR
If you’re planning works near a watercourse, you may need permission before starting.
- Ordinary watercourses – Contact Lincolnshire County Council.
- Main rivers – Apply through the Environment Agency.
Check if you need permission for works on rivers or flood defences (gov.uk).

January 2025 Flood Support – Property Flood Resilience (PFR) Grant
Following the severe flooding across Lincolnshire in January 2025, Lincolnshire County Council has created a new £1 million grant fund to support local residents in making their homes more resilient to future floods.
Who can apply?
You can apply if your property was internally flooded between 1 and 31 January 2025
If your home was not affected during this period, it is not eligible for this grant.
How the grant works
Step 1: Apply
To start your application, please contact the Flood and Water Management Team:
- Email: PropertyFloodResilience@lincolnshire.gov.uk
- Phone: 01522 550500
Step 2: Receive upfront payment
Once approved, you’ll receive £2,500 up front (50% of the total £5,000 grant). This is to help you get started with the works quickly.
Please note: We are currently finalising the process to issue upfront payments. We’ll update applicants as soon as this becomes available.
Step 3: Complete the works
You can choose your own contractor or install the works yourself. All installations must be completed within 12 months of receiving payment.
Step 4: Final inspection
Once the work is finished (or 12 months have passed), a specialist will inspect the installation to ensure it meets the required standard.
Step 5: Receive the remaining grant
If approved, the remaining £2,500 will be paid to you.
If the works are not completed correctly or the funds are misused, you may be required to repay the grant.
