Did you know one council collects your bins, but another disposes of the waste? Or that different councils handle roads and parks? And if you run a food business in Lincolnshire you would contact the county council to apply for a pavement café licence but a different council would do your food hygiene inspections.
County, borough, city, and district councils share these different responsibilities.
The government plans to replace this system with new unitary councils - a single 'tier'. This single organisation will deliver all local services and will be one point of contact, simplifying who does what and how.
We want your views on our plan to strengthen Lincolnshire, simplify services, and save money in local government.
We submitted our initial proposals in March, and now, after receiving feedback from the government, we're developing the details of our plan to show what it would mean for residents, communities and businesses in Lincolnshire.
