Branston village getting critical roadworks in April

Station Road in Branston

Three phases of night time measures will mean better roads for residents and road users.

Branston village is to undergo three phases of critical roadworks that will give road users a better ride quality and extend the life of the local road network.

Carried out in three phases, the extensive resurfacing plans will mean managed night closures of roads across the village. The works are scheduled to begin later this month and continue through to June 20.

Here’s how the scheduled works are planned to happen in full:

  • Phase one of the works will happen on Station Road and is due to start on Monday 25 April, finish on Tuesday 10 May.
  • Phase two is taking in Silver Street/Mere Road. These works are due to start on Tuesday 10 May and end on Wednesday 25 May.
  • Phase three sees the B1188 Sleaford Road – High Street – Lincoln Road area begin on Wednesday 25 May and is due to conclude on Monday 20 June.

Because all three phases of work are major resurfacing projects all will be completed as night working only with working shifts happening from 20.00 to 06.00.

To help residents and keep traffic disruption as low as possible, road closures will be removed outside the working hours stated above. Where closures are active, extensive road signs explaining diversionary routes will be in place.

Phase 3 - B1188 resurfacing works will also close down after the night shift on Wednesday 1 June. The site will be cleared away to allow celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations. Work on Phase 3 will then resume on Monday 6 June.

Karen Cassar, assistant director highways said: “This is an extensive range of vital resurfacing to a lot of roads on Branston and we’ve managed to plan this in such a way that we can keep the disruption to residents as low as possible.

“By working through the night, removing road closures during the day and ensuring that the roads are clear in time for the Jubilee, we can carry out these critical works with comparatively little impact to residents and road users alike.

“Whilst we are working extremely hard to carry out these works with the least amount of interruption to the normal road network, there will inevitably be some time where a diversionary route needs to be used and we would like to thank everyone effected by these works for their patience.”
