What we achieved in March

Phase Three

  • West side of site – carry out pile excavation works and cropping / off-site trial erection of bridge pier / reinforcement to the pier 1 bridge bases
  • East side of site – lay additional surfacing at Somerby Hill roundabout / continue rock processing and main road excavation / construct access track and soakaways between Somerby Hill and Whalebone Lane

What's happening in April

Phase Two

  • Drainage, street-lighting and verge works on the A1

Phase Three

  • West side of site – continue works to pier 1, including reinforcement and concrete / begin pier 2 works, including excavation and crop piles / backfill works to west abutment / begin piling pier 3
  • East side of site – embankment excavations / continue surfacing at Somerby Hill roundabout / continue rock processing and main road excavation / construct access track and lay carriageway sub-base between Somerby Hill and Whalebone Lane / piling works to pier 4

Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures

  • Ongoing lane closures on the B1174 roundabout until the end of the scheme
  • Temporary traffic signals and lane closures as needed at Somerby Hill Roundabout until Spring 2022

Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures

  • Full northbound A1 closure and southbound lane 2 closure between Little Ponton and Harlaxton, for four evenings starting on Tuesday 19 April; 8pm to 6am
  • Full southbound A1 closure and northbound lane 2 closure between Harlaxton and Little Ponton, for four evenings starting on Tuesday 3 May; 8pm to 6am
  • Full weekend closure of northbound A1 between Little Ponton and Harlaxton from the evening of Friday 20 May until the early morning of Monday 23 May
    • Diversion route via A606 at Stamford through Melton Mowbray to re-join A1 via A607 at Harlaxton
