What we achieved in April

Phase Two

  • Carried out northbound drainage, street-lighting and verge works on the A1

Phase Three

  • West side of site – continued works to pier 1, including reinforcement and concrete / began pier 2 works, including excavation and crop piles / backfill works to west abutment / began piling pier 3
  • East side of site – embankment excavations / continue surfacing at Somerby Hill roundabout / continue rock processing and main road excavation / construct access track and soakaways, and lay carriageway sub-base between Somerby Hill and Whalebone Lane

What's happening in May

Phase Two

  • Carry out bridge joint works and southbound drainage, street-lighting verge works on the A1
  • Final drainage and landscaping works across site
  • Surfacing to new link roads and roundabouts

Phase Three

  • West side of site – continue piling at pier 3
  • East side of site – continue surfacing at Somerby Hill roundabout / surfacing from Whalebone Lane to Somerby Hill / continue rock processing and main road excavation / construct access track around the allotment from Somerby Hill roundabout / drainage works at new mid-route roundabout

Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures

  • Ongoing lane closures on the B1174 roundabout until the end of the scheme
  • Temporary traffic signals and lane closures as needed at Somerby Hill Roundabout

Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures

  • Full southbound A1 closure and northbound lane 2 closure between Harlaxton and Little Ponton, for four evenings starting on Tuesday 3 May; 8pm to 6am
  • Full weekend closure of northbound A1 between Little Ponton and Harlaxton from the evening of Friday 20 May until the early morning of Monday 23 May
  • Diversion route via A606 at Stamford through Melton Mowbray to re-join A1 via A607 at Harlaxton
