Works planned to be completed next week on Middlegate Road West, Frampton.
Repairs are continuing at Middlegate Road West, Frampton with a crew on-site working to address the sinkhole that recently appeared.
Today, Thursday August 18, the hole will be excavated and filled. This phase of the work will continue tomorrow (Friday) with the final stage of the road reinstatement happening next week.
The works are planned to be completed by the middle of next week. Once the road surface has been laid, the road can be opened again with signage and restrictions removed.
It is worth noting that the planned end date for the works is subject to change because of unexpected events or extreme weather conditions.
Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways said: “Our crews have carried out an extensive investigation into the cause of the sinkhole.
“Very soft ground at depth appears to have shifted due to the effects of drought conditions. This has then caused the very visible issue with the road surface.
“With the road reinstatement ongoing, we are getting the route up and running again as quickly as possible. I would like to thank everyone affected by these repair works for their patience whilst we reinstate the road.”
