UPDATE: A151 Dozens Bank, Pinchbeck – work extended by a week

Diversion Route - A151 Dozens Bank

As the current programme of works continues, weaker ground than expected has been discovered meaning further rebuilding is necessary.

The completion date for the works is now August 24, subject to suitable weather conditions.

During planing works of the old road surface, the on-site crew found that the ground was weaker than expected in some areas.

This has meant that deeper excavations are to be carried out, resulting in more stone and other materials being needed for infill before the new road surface can be laid.

Please note that the 24hr road closure at A151 Dozens Bank will now be in place until August 24. As soon as the works are completed all traffic management will be removed and the road will be opened to all traffic again.

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways said: “It’s unfortunate that we face this extension in the works that we are doing and we’re sorry for the continuing delay and inconvenience to residents that this has caused.

“As is sometimes the case with civil engineering like this, and despite the proper investigations before we began the project, we could only discover the true nature of the ground underneath the road once we had taken the old road away.

"Our expert crews have identified the ground as too weak for the new surface and the substrate is now having to be strengthened by a significant amount as a result.

“We will carry out this work as quickly as possible and return the road to full use with as little further disruption as we can.

“I would like to thank everyone affected by these works for their ongoing patience whilst we get the weaker ground shored up and give the A151 Dozens Bank years more life.”
