One month of Greetwell Road improvements set for October

Greetwell Road diversion

Road reconstruction works to Greetwell Road, between Sewell Road and Greetwell Close, will start on Monday 3 October.

UPDATE: Greetwell Road works extended - 31/10/2022

Two more days needed to finish the job.

Due to the past few days of extremely heavy rain, re-surfacing works on Greetwell Road in Lincoln will have to be extended into next week.

The ongoing works outside the Maternity wing will now continue into next Monday, October 31 and Tuesday, November 1 with works happening between 09.00 and 18.00.

The road is scheduled to be fully open at 18.00 on Tuesday when it’s planned to lift all traffic management.

All access to the Maternity wing will continue as needed with an escort taking vehicles to the building from the double-roundabout on Outer Circle Road.

The total programme of works is expected to last for up to four weeks, subject to suitable weather.

As part of the project, Greetwell Road will be closed from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

The works will be carried out in two sections – Sewell Road to Monks Manor Drive, followed by Monks Manor Drive to Greetwell Close.

The diversion route for the daytime closure will be via Wragby Road and Outer Circle Road.

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: "Following on from our resurfacing works at Rookery Lane earlier this year, the team is now preparing to carry out up to four weeks of improvement works at Greetwell Road. Some sections of road here are starting to deteriorate and losing their grip, including near the zebra crossing.

"This isn’t a small job, as the team will be removing large sections of the current carriageway and replacing it with 1,100 tonnes of stone and new tarmac.

"Throughout the project, we'll be allowing residents and emergency services access through the site if needed and it’s safe to do so. And we’re also working closely with the hospital to ensure there’s as little inconvenience as possible for their staff.

"I want to thank everyone in advance for bearing with us during these works. Once finished, travelling through north Lincoln will be much safer and more comfortable for all road users."
