Lucy the Dragon sets date to return to Lincoln Castle with friend

Dragons landing

The castle’s popular dragon visitor is looking to return to her lair for the summer, this time with friend Norman in tow.

The scaly pair are set to land at Lincoln Castle on Saturday 24 June 2023, once again making Cobb Hall their home until at least January next year.

Last year more than half a million people visited Lucy at Lincoln Castle, and it is hoped her and Norman will continue to delight visitors throughout 2023.

To celebrate Lucy and Norman’s arrival, the 24 and 25 June will be Enchanted Castle weekend with a trail of mythical creatures, dragon warrior training, potion-making and the battle of the wizards with the ancient wizard, Master Skerrald.

Visitors can also meet Sylvia the fairy who will be flitting about the grounds.

Castle day tickets will be required for the Enchanted Castle weekend. Get your tickets now at www.lincolncastle.com.

Will Mason, head of culture at Lincolnshire County Council, said:

“It’s so exciting that Lucy has chosen to visit Lincoln Castle again this year. And even more so because she’s bringing her friend Norman with her. I can’t wait for visitors to the castle to meet Norman when he and Lucy arrive later this month.

“To be amongst the very first people to meet Norman, and welcome Lucy back, you’ll need to come along to the Enchanted Castle weekend on 24 and 25 June, when the grounds will be overrun with a whole host of other mythical creatures and magical characters too.”

Lucy and Norman will keep a keen eye over the other events at Lincoln Castle this summer, including a celebration of Lincolnshire food and drink over the 22/23 and 29/30 July.

This year will also see the return of the Grand Medieval Joust on 12 and 13 August. For the first time since before the pandemic, real knights on horseback will be battling it out on the castle’s main lawn.

And later in August, the ever-popular Asylum Steampunk Festival will take place from 26 to 28 August.
