Grantham Southern Relief Road update: A1 bridge/junction construction to begin

What we achieved in December

• Complete earthworks and filling the widening east of the A1
• Continued processing the materials needed to form the new slip roads, including adding lime to the excavated earth
• Started earthworks west of the A1 where new roundabout will be built
• Began drainage works on both sides of the A1
• Laid road surfacing to the A1's central reservations in preparation of the temporary contraflow layout starting

What's happening in January

• Lay stone and road surfacing, install barriers and paint white lining to the widened section of the A1
• Continue earthworks at to the west of the A1, modify the material with lime and use to construct the new slip roads
• Begin temporary contraflow system on the A1, with the haul road's northbound lanes diverted to a new section of carriageway
• Begin vegetation clearance and carry out final archaeological works for Phase Three

Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures

• Temporary diversion of the A1's northbound lanes, between Harlaxton and Little Ponton, to a new section of A1 carriageway from w/c 27 January for seven months
• Full night-time closure on the southbound A1, between Harlaxton to Little Ponton, on the evenings of Wednesday 22, Friday 24, Saturday 25, Sunday 26 and Monday 27 January from 8pm to 6am
  • Diversion route via A607 at Harlaxton to A606 to A1 at Stamford
• Full night-time lane closure on the northbound A1 between Harlaxton to Little Ponton on the evenings of Tuesday 28, Wednesday 29, Thursday 30 and Friday 31 January, as well as Saturday 1 February, from 8pm to 6am
  • Diversion route via A606 at Stamford to A607 to A1 at Harlaxton

Lane closures on the opposite side of the carriageway may also be in affect during the night-time closures listed above.
