What we achieved in July/August/September

  • Started removal of surcharge material from west junction
  • Constructed the culvert at Blue Gowt Lane
  • Installed root barriers
  • Backfilled west abutment and pier / completed pier pile cropping / built east abutment wall, east pier base and wall, and west pier base and wall for the new bridge
  • Started construction of retaining walls and construction of the ramp for bridge
  • Constructed the platform for bridge beams storage and assembly / received delivery of and started assembly of bridge beams

What's happening in October/November/December

  • Complete settlement of and continue surcharge removal at the west junction and low height embankment
  • Install kerbing and drainage at western junction
  • Begin landscaping activities, including grass seeding and planting
  • Continue bridge beams assembly on site and install the beams onto the piers and abutments
  • Continue construction of retaining wall
  • Continue construction of the bridge

Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures

  • Closure of Two Plank Bridge, its connecting footpath and the footpath on the Wygate estate across the rail line
  • Narrowed lanes at Spalding Road roundabout until 13 October

Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures

Closure of rail line for bridge beam installation from 8pm on the 14 October 2023 to 6am on the 16 October 2023 -- due to the nature of the works, contingency shifts and follow-on works above the railway are also planned for the following six consecutive weekends (8pm Saturday evening until 6am Monday morning)
