Discover the magic of a Victorian Christmas at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life

Join us for our special Victorian Christmas Family Fun Day on Friday 22 December 2023.

Open from 10am to 4pm, the Victorian Christmas event will have fun and games aplenty, including crafts activities, the chance to meet Mother Christmas, and Dickensian lessons in the Victorian schoolroom.

You can also meet Nellie, the cook, who’ll be in the kitchen preparing for the Christmas feast. And Mr Black, the printer, will be printing festive cards for the season for you to take home.

The event costs just £3 per child, with accompanying adults going free. Simply pay on the door.

Steve Dunk, visitor experience manager at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life, said:

“Much like the big day itself, our Victorian Christmas Family Fun Day has become somewhat of an annual tradition!

“In fact, a lot of the Christmas traditions that we still enjoy today were made popular in Britain during the Victorian era – including decorating a tree and Christmas dinner – so there’s a reason this period is so closely associated with the festive season.

“So come on in out of the cold and enjoy a warm, welcoming, traditional Victorian Christmas with us at the museum.”

The Museum of Lincolnshire Life is located on Burton Road in Lincoln, and is open from Fridays to Tuesdays from 10am to 4pm (last entry at 3.45pm).

Over the festive period the museum will be open from 10am to 4pm on:

  • Friday 22 December (Victorian Christmas Family Fun Day)
  • Saturday 23 December
  • Thursday 28 December
  • Friday 29 December
  • Saturday 30 December
  • Tuesday 2 January
