New path for Newport

Signs and cones on a road.

Improvements to the Lincoln footpath start in April.

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways and transport, said: “It’s great news that we’re getting this section of footpath on Newport rebuilt.

“The path is starting to show some signs of wear, so these improvements will make a big difference for pedestrians in the area.

Location of works

Newport, Lincoln - from Broadway to Longdales Road

Dates and times

Tuesday 2 April for up to three weeks

Traffic management

Tuesday 2 April for one week: southbound road closure, with no access to Newport from Longdales Road / Riseholme Roundabout

From Wednesday 10 April until the end of the project: two-way traffic signals near the works site

Diversion route

Via Longdales Road / Nettleham Road / Broadway / Newport, and vice versa.

Cllr Davies added: “Because of the location, there will inevitably be some disruption while we carry out this important improvement project, but we’ll do everything we can to keep this to a minimum.

“In the meantime, I’d like to thank everyone affected for their patience and would encourage people that regularly travel along Newport to leave extra time for the journeys once our works start.”
