Skegness sees better buses

More frequent journeys have arrived.

Passengers in Skegness are enjoying big improvements to their regular bus services, with more areas served and more frequent journeys than before.

Bus operator Stagecoach, in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council, has boosted its services in the area in a bid to encourage more people to travel in and about the town by bus.

Under these improvements, Route 2, which serves Skegness town centre, will now run more frequently – up to every 15 minutes – and serve additional areas, including several stops with direct access to the sea front. Previously, the buses ran every 30 minutes in the summer months.

Cllr Richard Davies, executive councillor for highways and transport, said: “These improved services will make a real difference for everyone wanting to get around Skegness by bus.

“By making services easier to access and more convenient, using the bus is a real alternative to taking the car about town, and a more environmentally friendly choice at that.

“And, with Stagecoach currently capping single-fare journeys at just £2, it’s a great time to take advantage of these improved services.”

Matt Cranwell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East Midlands, said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council to deliver better buses in Skegness for both locals and visitors alike. The new service runs more often and serves more parts of the town making it just the ticket for getting out and about in the town."

The additional routes are possible thanks to Bus Service Improvement Plan grant funding from the UK Government.
