Step back in time to experience a Victorian Christmas at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life

A woman dressed as a Victorian cook puts a turkey on the dining table for Christmas dinner

Join us for our special Victorian Christmas Family Fun Day on Friday 20 December 2024.

Open from 10am to 4pm, the Victorian Christmas event will have fun and games aplenty, including crafts activities, and the chance to meet Mother Christmas.

Meet Mr Black, the printer, who will be printing festive cards for you to take home. And speak to the cook who’ll be in the kitchen preparing for the Christmas feast.

The event costs just £4 per child, with accompanying adults going free. Simply pay on the door.

Steve Dunk, visitor experience manager at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life, said:

Christmas comes but once a year, and so to does our Victorian Christmas Family Fun Day!

Many of the Christmas traditions that we still enjoy today were made popular in Britain during the Victorian era – including decorating a tree and Christmas dinner – so there’s a reason this period is so closely associated with the festive season.

Come on in out of the cold and enjoy a warm, welcoming, traditional Victorian Christmas with us at the museum.”

The Museum of Lincolnshire Life is located on Burton Road in Lincoln, and is open from Fridays to Tuesdays from 10am to 4pm (last entry at 3.45pm).
