Better drainage and footpath scheme is go!
Richard Davies, executive member for Highways at LCC, said: “We are putting in a scheme here that will resolve the footpath issues and also improve the standing water issue on the road that is a common site at the bottom of the hill.
“By doing this we will be able to negate the skid risk in colder temperatures. The work will also mean that the road surface is less prone to potholes forming in the future.”
Location of works
The works will be carried out at Greetwell Road between the Outer Circle Road mini-roundabout and Greetwell Road roundabout on the Lincoln Eastern Bypass.
Dates and times
The works will begin on Saturday February 15 and have a scheduled end date of Sunday February 23. Work times onsite will be from 07.00 to 17.00 subject to suitable weather.
Traffic management
A road closure is required for the duration of the works with a diversion route in place throughout.
Diversion route
The signed diversion route will be; B1308 Outer Circle Road, turn right on A1434 Bunkers Hill, turn right on A15 roundabout down Lincoln Eastern Bypass and vice versa.
Cllr Davies added: “We have planned the works so that the closure will not affect businesses along this part of Greetwell Road with access to them maintained at all times. We also planned these works to fall within the February half term to further minimise disruption where possible.
“Currently there are overgrown hedges and trees encroaching onto the footpath. Once we have cut this back and resurfaced a large part of the footway, it will become a lot safer for people walking here.
“We will also be making smaller improvements such as installing some reflective verge markers and refreshing white lining road markings.
“This work will make an instant difference to those who use this road and I would like to thank everyone effected for their patience and understanding whilst we are delivering the programme of works for this area along Greetwell Road up to the LEB.”
