Construction of several major road projects throughout the county placed on hold until further notice due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The projects affected are:
- A17/A153 Sleaford Rugby Club Junction – originally set to start on Monday 6 April, the project is postponed until further notice
- Brayford Way bridge maintenance and Campus Way resurfacing – originally set to start on Monday 6 April, the scheme has been pushed back to summer
- A46 Riseholme roundabout improvements – previously underway, work has been suspended until further notice (narrowed lanes and speed restrictions will remain in place)
Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: "Due to the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Eurovia has decided to shut down all of their sites and not start any new projects for the time being, including our Sleaford Rugby Club junction scheme.
"In addition, planned improvements to Lincoln's Brayford Way bridge and Campus Way have also been pushed back to summer due to the contractor understandably not being able to guarantee staff levels during these unprecedented times.
"And finally, Breheny, our contractor working on the A46 Riseholme roundabout improvement scheme, has taken the decision to close the site down and suspend works until further notice due to coronavirus affecting site safety, staffing and supply chains. They are currently securing the site and making it safe, with a view to fully shutting down by the end of this week.
"Other projects underway, like the Lincoln Eastern Bypass and the second phase of the Grantham Southern Relief Road are continuing to progress#.
"I want to reassure residents that we will continue providing essential highway maintenance services during this trying time to keep the county's roads safe for key workers and those making necessary journeys."
