The notice has been issued following fire safety concerns at One The Brayford.
A prohibition notice was issued on the entirety of the residential area of the building at One The Brayford, Brayford Wharf North, Lincoln, LN1 1BN on Friday 25 April 2025.
Residents were advised to leave the building and find alternative accommodation following concerns over fire safety in the building. Those unable to stay with family and friends were provided with emergency temporary accommodation by City of Lincoln Council.
There is nothing to suggest a fire is more likely, but if one were to break out, it would spread quickly throughout the building, the fire alarm system is insufficient, and fire officials are not confident that everyone would have enough time to escape.
Fire crews have remained on site all weekend, speaking to residents at the building, to make sure as many people were informed as possible.
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue continues to work with those responsible for the building to put in measures that would allow residents safely back into their homes as soon as possible.
Dan Moss, Area Manager at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said:
“We appreciate that this is a worrying time for those living and staying in these flats, but our primary concern is always the safety of the public. Once we understood the extent of the fire risks at One The Brayford, we were left with no option but to advise individuals of the risks, and recommend they leave while we work with the building owners to make sure it is fully safe.
“We are working hard to do that as quickly as possible and will make sure we keep residents and guests updated on progress.”

The recommendation is not to stay in the building. There are no legal powers to enforce residents to leave their home. The notice does not affect the business premises located on the ground floor of the building.
