During a special ceremony at Waddington Training Centre, young people from across the county were honoured for their commitment to community resilience and safety.

The Duke of Cornwall Awards was developed to help young people in the UK understand what to do in emergencies, such as severe weather, a pandemic or long-term power cuts.

As the challenges facing communities continue to evolve, initiatives like the Duke of Cornwall Award play a vital role in preparing the next generation to respond with confidence, compassion, and capability.

In Lincolnshire, participants learned how to assist vulnerable people, and work alongside local services including fire, police and ambulance teams.

Dozens of local Scouts, Guides, members of youth groups, and individuals were presented with awards by the Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, Toby Dennis, and Chief Fire Officer, Mark Baxter.

Mark Baxter said: “It’s nothing short of inspiring to see the dedication of these young people, who want to make a difference in their communities.

“By learning how to protect and support others in emergencies, they have not only developed their confidence and built useful skills they can take forward in life but also strengthened the safety nets in their local areas.”

Toby Dennis said: "It has been a privilege to meet with these special individuals at this awards ceremony.

“Their commitment to public service and safety reflects the very best of Lincolnshire’s values.

“They truly are a credit to their communities, and I am glad to be recognising their achievements.

The event, hosted by Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue in partnership with the Lincolnshire Resilience Forum, included interactive demonstrations and opportunities for young people to engage with emergency service professionals.
