Streetlight replacement works for Birchwood

Street lights work plan

The big scheme will see 84 lights and columns upgraded.

Karen Cassar, assistant director for Highways at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “With nearly 70,000 streetlights across the county, we look after a lot of these units, and it’s very good news that we can get this large lighting scheme delivered.”

Location of works

The works will be carried out at Birchwood Avenue, Lincoln.

Dates and times

The works will begin on from Monday 8 September with a planned end date of Monday 20 October, subject to suitable weather. Work times onsite will be from 08.30 to 16.30 Monday to Friday. No weekend work is planned.

Traffic management

Three-way temporary traffic signals will be in place on Birchwood Avenue between the junction with Doddington Road and Jacobean Road with dates and times yet to be determined. The remainder of the scheme will be undertaken using sign-based traffic management.

Karen Cassar added: “This set of 84 streetlight works will look at replacing lights and columns where needed and also refurbishing aspects of the lighting in the area.

“Our team will do their best to keep footpaths open and will do everything possible to minimise impact to residents and businesses. Once completed, the streetlights in Birchwood Avenue will be very obviously improved and will go on to give many years of service to come.

I would like to thank everyone effected for their patience and understanding whilst we are delivering the streetlights improvements along Birchwood Avenue.”
