Pedestrian crossing outside of The King’s School in Grantham to be widened

Road closed

Construction of the widened puffin crossing will start this summer.

Karen Cassar, assistant director for highways, said: “Starting in early August, we’ll be completely excavating the current crossing outside of The King’s School to build a brand-new, wider one.

“This crossing will be nearly double the width of what’s there now, making it safer and easier for people to use. We’ll also be laying new tactile paving and road surfacing while on-site, in addition to installing more guardrails on the footpaths to help safely shepherd students to the crossing point.”

Cllr Paul Martin, county councillor for Grantham North, said: “After working closely with the school, the highways team has developed this scheme to improve safety at this busy location. Hundreds of students use this crossing daily during term-time, so enhancing safety here is very important.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing the finished product.”
