Additional works required at two Spalding roundabouts

Final Pinchbeck/Greencell Roundabout

Minor repairs will be carried out at Pinchbeck Roundabout and Springfield Roundabout starting in late August.

Jonathan Evans, head of highways client, said: “We always carry out thorough investigations to ensure the finished product of our major road projects meet the high standards we expect.

“Unfortunately, some of the new road surfacing at Pinchbeck Roundabout and Springfield Roundabout didn’t meet the requirements we specified in our design. As a result, the contractor will be repairing these issues at their own cost as part of our contract with them.

“In addition, a fuel spill near the shared footway/cycleway at Springfield Roundabout has caused damage that needs to be rectified, which will be paid for by the lorry company’s insurance.”

The Pinchbeck Roundabout works will start on Tuesday 26 August for up to four nights, from 8pm to 6am (subject to weather). As part of these works, the following traffic management will be in place:

  • Pinchbeck Roundabout: closure of the A16 and the roundabout itself, with the following signed diversion routes in place:
    • A16 North – via A151 / A17, and vice versa
    • A16 South – via A16 / A152 / B1356, and vice versa
  • Springfield Roundabout: a closure of the footway crossing the A16 North will be in place for two full days/nights between 26-29 August, with pedestrians being diverted around the southside of the roundabout

Additional Springfield Roundabout works will take place from Monday 1 September for up to five nights, 10pm to 6am. Temporary traffic signals will be in place at the roundabout during these times.

Jonathan Evans continued: “Making these repairs now will save us money and time in the future, and will also prevent disruption down the line.

“I want to thank everyone in advance for bearing with us during these works.”
