Families were given a taste of the fantastic activities on offer at local children’s centres at a special community event.
Lincoln North Children’s Centre recently held a free community event for families with children aged 0-19 (or 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities).
Visitors had a chance to try early years learning activities, sports, games, a silent disco, an inflatable football pitch, nature activities and much more. They were also provided with a free healthy packed lunch for their children.
Nicky Myers, head of service for early years and childcare support, said: “We know keeping the kids entertained can be a challenge over the summer holidays, so we wanted to encourage families to find out more about what our children’s centres have to offer. It was also an opportunity to learn more about the Family Hubs and Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programmes and the support available to families. We were delighted that so many people came along – it really was a fantastic event.”
Representatives from the Department of Education and Department of Health and Social Care also attended the event, and their feedback was overwhelmingly positive. They expressed how impressed they were with the activities showcasing what the Family Hubs programme can offer.
