Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) is launching a county-wide pilot to help improve access to speech and language therapy (SLT) for pre-school children.

Following last year’s public engagement on temporary changes to SLT, LCHS is launching a county-wide pilot to improve access to SLT for pre-school children (aged 0-4 years old), who are assessed as having a mild to moderate need for intervention (with the exception of children with severe or profound hearing impairment, cleft lip and palate and swallowing difficulties).

Pre-school children will now be offered quicker access to speech and language therapy support and advice at local family hubs.

The pilot aims to:

  • Reduce waiting times and provide earlier opportunities for SLT support for pre-school children.
  • Improve parent/carer and settings experience of the service.
  • Improve collaborative working with early years professionals.
  • Provide local accessible services for families

Whether you’re a member of the public, parent or professional stakeholder, please share your thoughts on the pilot changes.
