Drought-hit road cracks and undulations are getting immediate treatment
Karen Cassar, assistant director for Highways at LCC said: “These patching works are needed to make the road safer and to ensure a better experience for road users on Potterhanworth Booths.
“The recent very dry weather has meant a lack of what would have been naturally occurring water within the sub-soils under the road itself.
“This has seen failures in the structure of the soil which has led to some significant surface cracking and undulations on this road. Because of the size of these issues, we will be carrying out further, more intensive works later in the year to address these problems in full. For now, we are carrying out a programme of work to sort out the worst of the issues and keep the road useable.”
Location of works
The works will be carried out at B1190 Bardney Causeway.
Dates and times
The works will happen on Friday, September 5th for one night only.
Advance notice signs are out already advising of the works and a closure – will start after the evening peak traffic flows and will end once all works are completed. The road will be opened up again afterwards.
Traffic management
A road closure is required for the single night of the works with a diversion route in place throughout.
Diversion route
The signed diversion route will be; B1190 Bardney / Branston Causeway, B1202 Wragby Road, A158 Lincoln Road, A15 South via Lincoln Eastern Bypass, and vice versa.
Karen Cassar added: “As these are emergency works and need to be carried out due to the nature of the movement in the road itself, we have ensured that early warning notices have been on the road for as long as possible to give as much on-site notice as we can,
“We will do everything possible to keep the local traffic disruption to an absolute minimum, which is why we are carrying out these works at night and only beginning them after peak traffic flow.
“We are also able to use the diversion route set up for other works in the area which means our teams at this location can work at speed to resolve the issues for now ahead of more inclusive work on the undulations of the road later this year.
“I would like to thank anyone affected by these emergency works for their patience and understanding."
