UPDATED: Emergency works for Branston Causeway

Branston Causeway Road Closure - Emergency works

The bad weather from Storm Claudia on Friday and Saturday has had an impact on the patching work schedule

The heavy rain and high winds that lashed the county from Friday have had a knock-on effect on the current roadworks patching part of the B1190 at Branston Causeway.

Originally scheduled to finish this Wednesday, the works had to be paused while the worst of the weather hit Lincolnshire, this means that the works to patch parts of the road are now planned to be completed by 17.00 on Friday, November 21.

Karen Cassar, assistant director of Highways at Lincolnshire County Council said: “We are putting these emergency repairs into action in order to address cracking and rutting on the edge of the road.

“This is a safety measure to ensure that the road is better to use. We have been closely monitoring the ongoing situation, and these works are a short-term plan for now.

“Currently, this scheme is one of a number of similar work plans that see us targeting the roads most affected by the very dry summer just gone.”

Location of works

The works will be carried out from the junction with the B1202 to Nocton Fen Lane.

Dates and times

Onsite work will begin on Tuesday 11th November with a planned end date of to Wednesday 19th November. Working hours will be between 07.30 and 17.00 daily. No weekend working is planned.

Traffic management

A road closure is required for the duration of the works with a diversion route in place throughout.

Diversion route

The signed diversion route using like-for-like roads will be via the B1202, B1188, A15, A158, B1202 and vice versa.

Karen Cassar added: “This set of works will cost around £200,000 to put in place.

“Our crews will complete the work as quickly as possible, but until the scheme is delivered, there will be a diversion in place for the safety of road users and those working onsite.

“I would like to thank everyone effected for their patience and understanding whilst we are delivering these repairs to this part of the B1190.”
