LCC wants you to be involved in what happens next
Costs could be going up for utility companies permits to carry out work on the public highway.
Since the Lincolnshire Permit Scheme (LiPS) was launched in 2016 the price per permit has stayed static, and up until recently the incoming money matched the outgoing costs.
With the costs per permit rising, LCC is proposing an increase in permit prices to make sure that the scheme does not continue to run at a loss, as permit schemes are designed to operate on a cost-neutral basis.
To cover the shortfall across the previous two years, LCC has used cash reserves and income from other street work activities, but this approach cannot continue.
So, to keep LiPS effective and sustainable for the future, the county council is now proposing an increase in permit fees. This will ensure the scheme continues to support well-coordinated and efficiently managed roadworks across Lincolnshire.
