Grantham Southern Relief Road update – Northbound A1 night-time closures continue

The closures are allowing Galliford Try to carry out piling works for the new bridged junction.

What we achieved in April

  • Continued bored piling works to firm the abutment and wingwalls of the new underpass
  • Continued earthworks to the western and eastern roundabouts and slip roads, including lime modification
  • Commenced piling works adjacent to the northbound A1
  • Continued archaeological works for Phase Three east of the railway

What's happening in May

  • Complete bored piling works to the western half of the new underpass
  • Continue earthworks to the western and eastern roundabouts and slip roads, including lime modification
  • Begin drainage works for the western and eastern roundabouts
  • Complete bored piling works and install temporary sheet piling adjacent to the northbound A1
  • Continue final archaeological works and carry out ground surveys and trial holes for Phase Three

Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures

  • None confirmed beyond May

Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures

  • Full night-time lane closure on the northbound A1 between Little Ponton and Harlaxton on weekday evenings (M-F) from 8pm to 6am until Wednesday 20 May
    - Diversion route via A606 at Stamford to A607 to A1 at Harlaxton
    - No closure on Friday 8 May due to bank holiday
  • 50mph speed limit and narrow lanes on the A1 between Harlaxton to Little Ponton
