The works will include full reconstruction of the B1359, from the A17 roundabout to the Hall Gate/Roper’s Gate junction.
Karen Cassar, assistant director for highways, said: “After encountering some unexpected underground utility issues while re-building Kingsgate bridge earlier this year, our plans to resurface over a half mile of the B1359 are now back on track.
“Once we’re on site, this won’t be a small task. We’ll be fully excavating half a mile of Kingsgate to its foundations before laying 2,900 tonnes of new road surfacing.”
Cllr Neil Carey, county councillor representing Gedney, said: "We all understand that surprises often happen when it comes to roadworks, which is why I’m glad to see the important works rescheduled and ready to start in the new year.
“Combined with the rebuilt bridge, this new road surfacing will most definitely help futureproof one of the area’s busiest local roads.”
