Crossgate Lane closure brought in for road user safety.
Lincolnshire County Council has listened carefully to feedback from residents and local councillors regarding the ongoing issues in the area surrounding Crossgate Lane.
Officers have also been working closely with the developer, Burmor Construction, on-site to monitor the situation firsthand. As a result of the concerns raised, complaints received and liaison with local councillors, Crossgate Lane will be closed from today (Wednesday, January 14).
This decision has been taken to ensure highway user safety due to:
- Excessive damage caused to the road surface
- Verges deteriorating significantly
- Extraordinary use of narrow side roads creating risk of damage and conflict between road users
Crossgate Lane is no longer accessible, and we ask all road users to allow additional time for their journeys and to follow the signed diversion route for the development works on Surfleet Road which is via the A152, the A16 and Wardentree Lane (B1180).
Side roads off Surfleet Road are for local access only, and we would ask other road users to not use these narrow roads, as this increases the risk of damage and potential safety hazards.

County Councillor Sheard said: “Public safety is paramount, and we’re working hard to ensure that the works run smoothly for all residents and road users during this time. Any concerns should be raised with the developer or Lincolnshire County Council. Our Highways team will continue to work hard to rectify the issues.”
