Lincolnshire County Council’s Community Intervention Team has launched a new initiative called ‘Made With Love’, transforming donated furniture into high-quality, upcycled pieces for those in need.

All furniture used in the project has been generously donated by members of the public and the waste team at Tattershall Household Waste and Recycling Centre. Each item is restored and given a fresh purpose by the team as part of their reparation offer, helping to reduce waste while supporting local families and individuals facing hardship.

The team have recently donated a large amount of furniture to various victims and those in need. They were able to support a family who had moved into a new home and had nowhere to store clothes or eat as a family. The team was able to provide everything required to help them settle into their new home and make a positive fresh start.

Over the past year, the Community Intervention Team - working alongside children supported by Future4Me - has donated furniture to youth homelessness services, social care teams, children’s centres, and women’s refuges across Lincolnshire.

Building on this success, the team now plans to expand the initiative through regular donation and collection days, ensuring that more people can benefit from the project while continuing to promote reuse and sustainability across the county.

Cllr Natalie Oliver, executive member for Children’s Services at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “Made With Love is about giving new life to old furniture while supporting people who need it most. Every item has been lovingly restored, and it’s wonderful to see the difference it can make in someone’s home.”

Cllr Danny Brookes, executive councillor for Environment at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “This project is a fantastic example of how we can make the most of resources that might otherwise go to waste. By upcycling donated furniture, we’re not only supporting local families but also helping to reduce what we throw away. It’s community spirit and sustainability working hand in hand.”
