Traffic damage to verges and excessive rat-running by vehicles has led to the diversion decision

Following extensive discussions between the local community, Lincolnshire County Council, Burmor Construction and the Parish Council, the building company will now be implementing additional road closures to reduce traffic problems in the area.

Flaxmill Drove just north of Porthouse Drive, and Langhole Drove at the bridge will now be included in the road closure plan with access available to residents only.

The decision has been taken because of recent excessive road surface and verge damage caused by traffic using the roads as a rat run to avoid the previous official diversion.

The closures will be in effect as of today, Friday, 27 February.

Road users are being asked to allow additional time for their journeys and to use the signed diversion route via the A152, A16 and Wardentree Lane.

All businesses in the area remain open as usual and will be accessible by using the official diversion.

Additionally, due to delays to the works caused by the excessive rainfall we have experienced, a two-week extension has been agreed for the road closure, meaning a planned completion date of Sunday, March 22.

Once the works are complete under the road closure, the planned footpath and street lighting works will continue under temporary traffic signals.
