Urgent repair work for A17 Gedney is go

Gedney diversion

Tomorrow (Saturday, February 28) will see an emergency road crew onsite to address the issues on the route

Urgent repairs to the A17 at Gedney are going to be carried out tomorrow (Saturday).

Happening from 7am Saturday, February 28 the patching works programme will be tending to issues on the eastbound lane of the Gedney dual carriageway, sorting out potholes and surface problems.

The crew will get on with fixing the recent issues reported on the fix My Street service by residents, and those highlighted by cllr Rob Gibson, cllr Robbie Woods and cllr Neil Carey.

The works are expected to be completed the same day with a planned time for the crews to come off-site of 6pm Saturday evening.

Because of the nature of the work, a local diversion will need to be put in place for the safety of road users and the roads crew carrying out the improvements.

The diversion for the side road Churchgate will be; A17 / Old Main road / Fleet Road / A17 and vice versa.

Local county cllr Carey said: “Highways are putting an emergency crew on the road to address the urgent problems that have appeared. The plan is to get these works done within the day and make the road much better for everyone to use.

“Because there can’t be normal traffic using the road while a crew are in the middle of it filling potholes, there has to be a short, day-long diversion in place on the eastbound lane of the dual carriageway. With a planned end time of 6pm, the diversion disruption will thankfully be short-lived.

“I want to say thank you for your patience and understanding to everyone effected by the diversion tomorrow. We will do everything we can to get these works completed in the planned short timeframe and the A17 eastbound at Gedney back into a better state.”
