A Hayward Gallery Touring exhibition of screen-prints by Eduardo Paolozzi will open at Lincoln’s free public art gallery this month as part of a national tour.
Sir Eduardo Paolozzi (1924–2005) was one of the pioneers of the pop art movement in the UK.
As a self-confessed ‘wizard in Toytown', he transformed the mundane and mass-produced images from advertising, comic books, science fiction, and American popular culture to create bright, bold, beautiful collages.
Now, visitors to the Usher can see a celebrated collection of his screen-prints and photolithographs produced between 1965 and 1970 - called General Dynamic F.U.N – on display at the gallery until Sunday 7 June 2026.
In this exhibition, Paolozzi’s bold and playful take on everyday images from advertising, film and popular culture bursts into life, with a visually striking exhibition full of colour, humour and ideas that still feel relevant today.
The prints explore how technology, fame and mass media were shaping everyday life in the 1960s.
General Dynamic F.U.N is the latest exciting announcement from the Usher Gallery, which is also hosting local architectural illustrator Matt Wright’s ‘Papestry’ – a continuous pen drawing of Lincoln’s iconic Bailgate and Steep Hill areas - later this summer.
Cllr Natalie Oliver, executive councillor for culture at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “The Usher Gallery has enabled people to enjoy the country’s finest art for almost a century, and hosting this wonderful exhibition of Eduardo Paolozzi’s work is the latest in a long line of highlights.
“Our visitors told us they wanted to see more major touring exhibitions alongside local artwork. So that’s exactly what we’re doing. We are thrilled to bring Paolozzi’s pioneering work to the people of Lincolnshire, and I’d like to thank Hayward Gallery Touring and the Southbank Centre for making this possible.”

The collection is also inspiring The Usher Young Creatives – a friendly group of 16-25 year old art lovers – to create their own exhibition, offering a fresh take on Paolozzi's prints with the help of emerging visual artist, Emily Collyer.
“As a proud champion for Lincolnshire’s children and families, I know just how talented our young people are. It’s brilliant to see this exhibition already inspiring the county’s next generation of creative talent”, added Cllr Oliver.
Eduardo Paolozzi: General Dynamic F.U.N opens on Saturday 14 March 2026 and continues until Sunday 7 June 2026.
The Usher Gallery is on Danes Terrace, Lincoln, and is open from 10am to 4pm, Thursday to Monday. Entry is free.
