Celebrate 50 Years of the Viking Way with a gentle stroll this Easter

Tealby map for the Viking Way section

We’re marking the anniversary by sharing a series of short circular walks that anyone can enjoy. Here's the first one to try.

Now, these walks are meant for everyone. They’re ideal if you’d like to experience a bit of the route without committing to the full 149-miles of the famous trek that’s mostly through the county (aside from a little bit at the top at the Humber and bottom-left at Oakham, added on).

We’re kicking things off with a lovely four‑mile walk from Tealby, a village tucked into the Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape. It’s a peaceful route with wide views across the countryside, and on a clear day you might even spot Lincoln Cathedral in the distance.

To make the walk a bit more fun, we’ve put together a 50 Things to look for on the Viking Way list. It includes wildlife, landmarks and other features you might pass along the way. It’s a simple way to add a bit of interest to your outing during this anniversary year.

Families heading out together can also download our themed I‑Spy sheets, which are great for younger walkers. Each one focuses on a different topic—wildlife, Viking Way features or landscape highlights - so there’s always something to look out for.

You can find the Tealby walk map and directions, along with the 50 Things list and I‑Spy sheets, and more maps and details of both the full route and a selection of other, shorter circular walks at: www.visitlincolnshire.com/things-to-do/viking-way/
